Your Voice in Sheffield Mental Health
Your Voice is a not-for-profit community magazine for all communities involved in Sheffield Mental Health. Many stories are written by service users who want to share their experiences so that others can gain knowledge of how it feels to be in the mental health system (and sometimes, to be left out of it). Professionals and carers also write of their experiences and views.
In the small Your Voice office, the Editor and volunteers look at stories, arrange checking and research and come up with ideas to commission (not for pay) new articles, reviews and other pieces which go to make up the mosaic of the quarterly Your Voice magazine.
A voluntary Committee oversees income (usually from grants and project funding) and expenditure on printing and upkeep of the office.
Your Voice is now in its 12th year and is considered one of the best examples of a community mental health publication in the UK.
We are still building this new website. Already we have a Forum , a Blog, and the opportunity for Registered Your Voice users to apply for their own blogs. There are two forms on this page which will help users to make their views known, and to register, of course. Even if you are already receiving a postal copy of Your Voice, it is necessary to register online if you wish to apply for blog services. We carefully vet people, only so that we do not have individuals trying to use Your Voice for non-mental-health purposes such as selling things or redirecting people to bad websites.
We hope you find Your Voice really useful and enjoyable.
